Thanksgiving and The Holiday Season

Hey Guys-

Sorry I have been MIA for awhile, things have been pretty crazy with the holidays and stuff. So I don't have any recipies or anything for this post, just a real simple posting of what I am thankful for this Thanksgiving and holiday season. We all have so much going on in our lives, good and bad, that we sometimes forget what we have. I know that I do once in a while. The last month or so has been really hard for me and I kind of just put everything good on the back burner while I focuced on everything hard. Now I realize that I need to be really thankful for those things.

1. My Family

My family is my everything, I love them so much! There are days that I wonder if I really am related to this person, but at the end of the of the day I love them just the same with all my heart!

2. My Life.
A lot of people complain that they never have what they want or they want more. I have been guilty of this. But I have realized that I could have it a lot worse, I could not have a roof over my head or no food to eat.

3. My Friends.
Over the last couple of years I have gone through some hard times with a few friends, making me wonder if they were true friends. Over the course of this time I have realized who my real friends are and I couldn't be more grateful for them. Being the true people that they are and always being there. I couldn't Love them more!

4. Education.
I am really thankful that I have had the option to go to college and have a chance to further my education. Even though right now I am taking a semester off because of certian reasons, I am forever thankful for even the chance that I have already had so far and the chances I wil have in the future.

5. Health.
I am so thankful that all in all I am pretty healthy. I pray daily for those in my family that are not and struggle. I know that the holidays are a hard time to think about these things, but if you think about the positive and all that is good you might actually help someone in your family.

6. Social Networking
So just for fun and last but not least I am thankful for social networking. Facebook, Twitter, Blogspot...It has been a way to keep in touch with all my friends and family that I don't get time to call or the time difference screws up. Gives me a chance to do my blog and tell y'all what I am thankful for and for that I am thankful!

So I hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving and you remember the true meaning of it. As Christmas draws near I also hope that you remember what it is also about. I will do another blog before Christmas when I do some baking, but I am on vacation right now in North Dakota seeing family. So I will wish you all a Merry Holiday Season!

Hey Y'all-

Just a quick update to let you know that I AM alive. I have been pretty sick and my laptop was having surgery so I had nothing to update you with. As soon as I am feeling a little bit better I will have some new holiday ideas and outfits up.

Hummus and Kale Salad....Yum!

Hey Y'all-

The holidays are coming, the holidays are coming! And with that means great recipes. I love baking and in the recent months have started to really learn how to cook, and while I am no where near being domestic, I think I am getting pretty good. Since I am home a lot right now I am in a snacking mood some days, but I love healthy snacks and today I have two great recipes to share with  you.

The first is Hummus -
You need:

16 oz can of Chickpeas - Rinsed and Drained
7 oz roasted red pepper - Rinsed and Drained
1/2 Cup Non-Fat Yogurt
1 Clove Garlic - Chopped
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1/4 Teaspoon Pepper

Put all ingredients in food processor and blend until smooth. Serve with pita chips or bruschetta bread.

The Second is Kale Salad-

You Need:

2 Bunches of Curly Kale
Dried Cherries
Walnuts
Tomatoes
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Tiny Baby Carrots

Clean and rinse the Kale, toss with very little olive oil, add dried cherries, chopped walnuts, tomatoes and tiny baby carrots. Toss all together and you will have a nice crisp Kale Salad!

Enjoy and let me know if you have any good recipes!

Your Go To Weekend Outfit

The weekend has arrived and that means time for socializing, dating, church and all the other things you are going to be doing. It's always great to have a awesome outfit right and handy for a day out on the town, or for a day of shopping. Three of my favorite things that I love to wear? Sweaters, jeans and boots. You can never go wrong with this combo. Paired with a great linked bracelet, aviators and a pop of color with a bright scarf. Since it is the weekend, it is all about comfort and style, so if you want to dress it up at night, wear a smoky eye, and a dark polish. This whole outfit is from J.Crew, one of my favorite stores. Make sure that you have one key piece that you center the rest of your outfit around. Make sure that Y'all have a great weekend!

A Little Bit Of Comedy, Action And Drama

Hey All-

I have watched more of the new shows and have some more reviews for you!
Lets start with some comedy.

I LOVED this show! Emily Deschanel is awesome in this quirky show. She really shows off her funny side while being really dense to what is going on. If you want to watch a show about a lady who lives with four guys and is nonstop humor, New Girl is your show!

Another great show. I wasn't really sure watching the trailer that this was going to be a good show, it really looked kind of cheesy, but it had surprising humor and great lines. They assembled a great cast, a great writing team and now they have a really great show! Make sure you watch Pan Am!

Revenge was another sceptical one going in, but I was going to give it a chance because it too has a great cast being lead by Emily VanCamp. The thing about this show is that it is going to be about the same thing every week, they are going to focus just on this one girl and I think this show is going to last maybe a season before they run out of stuff to play out. All in all; good cast, good writing, not so great plot.

Who doesn't like Hawaii Five-0? This show has a great cast lead by Alex O'Loughlin and Scott Cann. The banter that these two have keeps the whole cast have a good dynamic. The show has a great story every week, and never gets old because they add a different story every week, while still following a storyline.

Charlies Angels. What more can I say? Actually I really enjoyed the first episode. I am a Minka Kelly fan, so to see her in something different like this was pretty cool. The whole cast did a great job, some sarcastic attitude, some bad ass moves and fast cars. If you like a subdued action show, this is your show.

My favorite show so far this season, Hart Of Dixie, has a great cast; Rachel Bilson, Scott Porter and Jamie King. I loved the smart alack remarks, sarcasm, attitude and southern hospitality. I used to watch Rachel Bilson in The O.C. and liked her in that show, but since haven't really seen anything I cared for until now. Make sure you check this show out!

I have been watching this show since the beginning and I have to say it just keeps getting better. The 2 hour season premier was really good. If you are a Grey's Anatomy fan then you know how dramatic the last seasons have been. Well I think that this season is going to be the best yet, who doesn't love themselves some Patrick Dempsey?  If you haven't checked this show out before, then you HAVE to!

That's all for tonight folks, I have other reviews coming so make sure to watch out for them! Love you my lovelies <3

Thrift Store Junkie

Hey Y'all-

So today's post? How to look fashion forward in an economic downfall. As things continue to spiral out of control in our country, we still want to look good. My answer to this? Second hand or thrift stores! It is amazing what brand names you can find at these stores for next to nothing. Why spend $120 on a pair of jeans when you can get them for $5 hardly used. So as my weekly outfits, I am going to add a weekly thrift store find as well. I can still look great for barely any money at all.
My outfit this week-

Gap 3/4 Length Shirt - $2.50
Old Navy Jeans - $3.00
Mossimo Scarf - $4.00
Gap Ballet Flats - $39.50 (My Splurge)

If you have any thrift store finds that you love, let me know!

Black And Leather Makes The World Go Round

 Hey Y'all-

So I know it has been a couple of days, but
I have been trying to figure out some stuff to do on the blog..Exciting : ) Once a week is going to be "Outfit Monday". I'm going to show you one outfit plus some of the things that help me get through my week sane. As fall has descended upon us quickly, I have some really cool ideas for the harsh winter ( or if you live in a warm climate, lots of moisture ). I don't really think that there is a girl out there that does not love a good pair of jeans and a comfy sweater, but who says that you can't look good while you're doing that? ME! I also love flats; any color, any look, you can't go wrong and if at the end of the day you want to dress your outfit up, just add a pair of great looking heels. So lets start this week a little late

First starting at the top we have a cashmere rugby-stripe V-neck sweater from J.Crew, under that is the ankle stretch toothpick jean, also from J.Crew. I adore these Cece studded leather ballet flats in black. Big and round is in right now with sunglasses, not only is it mysterious but it can also help you avoid the wrinkles. These glasses are by House of Harlow. Who can say no to a leather jacket? They are sophisticated but can be bad ass at the same time, I love this savoy quilted leather jacket for a blustery night out on the town. And to go with that awesome leather jacket, slip on that one of a kind bracelet right next to it.The weights & measures bracelet is will make an awesome accessory for a night out or to go to work. Remember those heels I was talking about for after work? They are next! They are a Galveston Stud Boot that you can wear out for a night of fun. And seriously? What is a girl without her purse? I love this black Brompton hobo from J.Crew. Before you hit the town at night you can wear those pearls, they can make any outfit complete. I hope that you like what I worked up for this week! I'll see you back here next Monday!

Love Is Louder Than The Pressure To Be Perfect

Hey Y'all-

So something pretty important to talk about today. I have been following the LOVE IS LOUDER campaign. This is a great movement that has really got people thinking before doing. Brittany Snow teamed up with The Jed Foundation to start this after all the suicides that happened because of bullying, hate and so much more. Brittany has over come so much just herself; bullying, hate, and an eating disorder. I have to give her the cred she deserves for starting this great campaign. She has also gotten some pretty powerhouse celebrities involved with her movement, in doing this she has created a wider audience. Here are some of those celebs:

OK Guys! Here are couple of the
celebrities that are a part of
this movement: Brittany Snow,
Sophia Bush, Colton Haynes,
Anna Sophia Robb, Miley Cyrus
Demi Lovato, Camille Belle
And Victoria Justice.

Now here is my pledge: I pledge to not bully, not judge, be mean or cruel. I pledge to love myself and other as we are. I pledge to do something to make a difference and help somebody else. I pledge that LOVE IS LOUDER THAN THE PRESSURE TO BE PERFECT!

If you would like to find out more about the movement, visit their website @ www.loveislouder.com, you can also follow the twitter @LoveisLouder, at Facebook and watch a Brittany Snow interview on YouTube, there are many. So take your pledge today to say that LOVE IS LOUDER THAN THE PRESSURE TO BE PERFECT! It can stand for so much!

Love you guys <3

It's EMMY Time!

So it is Emmy review time! Who watched the awards tonight? I did not, but I kept up online, and I love watching the red carpet <3 The fun thing about award shows for me? The HOT and NOT dressed. It amazes me what some people would actually wear out in public. This year there were some really great dresses and a few not so great. I love black or subtle colors, I am not into the super bright glitzy glam. I do have to admit that I did love a few red and sparkleys this year. Check out some of the HOT and NOT on my list!

These are my FAVORITES!
On the LEFT column we'll start with Aimee Teegarden dressed in Romona Keveza. In line next is Julia Stiles in Georges Hobeika. Next is Kaley Cuoco also in Romona Keveza. Minka Kelly looks amazing in Christian Dior. Emily Blunt is next in Elie Saab, I love the lace.

On the RIGHT column it starts off with beauty Naya Rivera in a great classic black gown . Dianna Agron wore a awesome colbat blue by Roksanda Ilincic. Does Nina Dobrev ever do wrong on the red carpet? She wore an amazing red Donna Karan gown. One of my favorite gowns of the night goes to Cat Deeley! She wore an amazing gold Monique Lhuillier. And last but not least, another fav is Sarah Hyland in
 amazing Christian Siriano.

Ok! A few quick remarks on the men of the Emmy's. I'm always a sucker for a guy in a suit but there is just something about when a guy can pull it off and I think that these ones did.

Mark Salling looked awesome in a Calvin Klein
Collection Tux. David Boreanaz looked very well put together in a classic tux. Cory Monteith looked very dapper in a John Varvatos Tux. And last is Ian Somerhalder, this Vampire Diaries star looked great in a Emporio Armani Suit

Ok Ya'll Here they are! I love how "Stars" can have great fashion
sense everyday, but you have to get them into something formal
and Ugh! Everything just goes down hill. I have seen many and
here are some of those...First in the to right corner we have Katie Holmes
this lady has an amazing body and she is hiding it. She also USUALLY
has a great sense of style, it looks like she is wearing a bag and belted
on the way out the door. Next is Taraji P. Henson in Blumarine
This one looks like a see through glittered bag, there is absolutely no
form in this dress at all. On to Olivia Munn in Carolina Herrera. I love
Her style on a day to day baisis, but really? This dress does nothing for
her at all. Next is Ellie Kemper in a sequined out dress, she looks like
she ran into a sequined wall full speed. Who is that?! It's Amy Poehler!
And she is taking flight after the show in this space suit looking gown
by Peter Som. Next on the list is Kelly MacDonald, in a black..lace..
thingy. Not a fan at all. There are way too many aspects to this dress,
it does not work at all.

Well my work is done... I think that I touched on a lot of different looks and why they did and did not work. Remember that flashiness is not always everything, and subtly is a  beautiful thing <3

Good Night My Lovelies <3
